Sometimes you may find infection can be a problem in eczema. If your eczema is weepy with yellow pustules, it may be infected and making your eczema worse.

However, infection of your eczema may not always be obvious but your doctor will be able to advice you if the eczema is infected. If topical steroids alone do not do the work, your doctor may prescribe an antibiotic (to treat the bacteria) in combination with a steroid treatment.
